Community Involvement

Thank you for visiting TedMeriam.com and getting involved.  I have been honored to serve the Clayton community of more than 10, 900 residents for most of my life.  Clayton is an exceptional place; an intimate town with traditional American values nestled in the bustling Bay Area.  Our history is deep rooted and cherished, with time-honored characteristics that still exist from the days of our founding fathers.  As I return to Clayton to start my own family, I have a strong desire to give back to a community that has provided me so much.  Thank you for joining me along the way.

Clayton Planning Commission,

Planning Commissioner

The Planning Commission is an advisory body to the Clayton City Council and reviews various development proposals.  The Commission consists of five members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council.

At the City Council meeting on June 16, 2009, Ted was unanimously appointed to the Clayton Planning Commission, officially beginning his career in local government.  Ted was one of eight applicants for two hotly-contested seats for the 2009-2011 term, beginning his post as a Planning Commissioner on July 1st.

Ted envisions a virbrant downtown center that honors Clayton's past, while meeting the needs of current citizens.  To learn more about Ted's strategic direction for the City of Clayton, Ted's full interview is available via the link below.

Clayton Historical Society,

President

The Clayton Historical Society was founded in 1974 to "research, collect, record, preserve, display, borrow, share, and interpret local history information and memorabilia, and to promote understanding of Clayton origins and development."

As the President of the Board of Directors, Ted provides organizational leadership to the operations of the historical society and museum.  He focuses specifically on growing membership, building fundraising opportunities, and driving operational maturity in the organization.

Ted finds that understanding Clayton's historic past is vital in his work with present-day Clayton and planning for the future.  Learning from leaders of the past can help make better decisions in today's context.

P2C Foundation,

Founder

The P2C Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises money and grants it back to the local community. The P2C Foundation completes a majority of its fundraising through local events and programs, including the Passport to Clayton.

Ted, beside City Councilman and local business owner Joe Medrano, started the P2C Foundation with the hopes of bringing together families and businesses, while supporting the larger mission of giving back to Clayton.

As no one organization supported the business community in town, Ted hopes that the P2C Foundation will work hand-in-hand in creating a vibrant business community, while helping families save money and benefiting the community by shopping locally.
